Before the green flag waves for the Daytona 500, the Jefferson Post is giving you an opportunity to sign up for our NASCAR Racing Contest.

The Fan Fever NASCAR Contest is sponsored locally by Jim’s Corner, Ross Chrysler Jeep Dodge and West Jefferson Chevrolet.

The directions are simple. Visit our website at and click on the auto racing contest banner on the right side of the page near the top. After that, you create an ID and password, or sign in with your Facebook account to create your entry.

NASCAR is America’s top spectator sport with more than 75 million fans and is the second most watched sport in the United States.

Each person who enters the contest picks who they think will finish in the top 10 each race. Points will be awarded based on how accurate the picks are. The season runs for all 37 weeks, but the entry for each person will use the highest points from 15 of the 37 races to determine the overall winner.

Weekly and season-long awards will be given to the winners.

The NASCAR season officially begins with the Daytona 500 on Sunday, Feb. 24.
