Golfers finish sixth at Cedarbrook

After a pair of nine-hole matches at Cedarbrook last week, Ashe County finished sixth place in each match with scores of 180 and 181.

Starmount won the first match with a team total of 166. East Wilkes finished in second just three shots back, followed by Forbush (171), Elkin (172), Wilkes Central (177), Ashe, West Wilkes (193), North Wilkes (202) and Alleghany (219).

Abel Warner and Zach Lawrence each shot 43 to have the best individual rounds for Ashe golfers in the first match. Tucker Goodman finished with a score of 45. Adam Graybeal and Caleb Carter each shot 49 and Jacob Worley rounded out the team score with 51.

In the second match, it would be East Wilkes and Forbush that played to a first place tie with team scores of 165. Elkn placed third with a score of 169, Central and Starmount tied for fourth at 171, followed by Ashe, West Wilkes (196), Alleghany (202) and North Wilkes (206).

Ashe was led in this match by Goodman who shot a team-best 41. Worley and Warner each finished with a 46, Lawrence fired a 48, and both Graybeal and Carter finished with 53.
