Two years ago, Ashe Assisted Living and Memory Care opened its doors to usher in a new patient for the first time. Now, Ashe Assisted Living plans on hosting an open house to celebrate their two years of service to the community on Friday, April 26.
Everyone is welcome to attend the open house, although, special invitations were sent to local doctors and healthcare facilities, as well as representatives from county and town government, along with other organizations.
Ashe Assisted Living plans to have music, entertainment, door prizes, refreshments and tours of the facility during the open house.
Executive Director Bevin South, along with resident care staff, administration, residents and their families will be on-hand for the event.
“We provide excellent care and services to residents and their families on a daily basis, which include assistance with personal care, medication management, transportation to physician visits, housekeeping, laundry and much more,” said South. “We always take a person-centered approach in the care we provide, as well as the activities we offer.”
According to South, the memory care program has grown in the past two years of operations. Also, Ashe Assisted Living has partnered with Generations Child and Adult Day Cares in developing an inter-generational program that benefits both children and the elderly.
Currently, Ashe Assisted Living is the only facility in Ashe County equipped with a memory care unit for seniors with Alzheimer’s and dementia.
Ashe Assisted Living currently serves 49 residents (28 assisted living and 21 memory care), and are at capacity with 55 beds. In all, Ashe Assisted living has approximately 40 staff members.
According to South, resident care staff members are required to receive 20 hours of dementia training within the first six months of employment, to ensure they provide the highest quality of care.
