The Ashe County Youth Football League invited golfers from all over to hit the links at Jefferson Landing for its inaugural fund-raising tournament last Tuesday.
The total proceeds from the tournament brought in over $11,000.
Teams competed to have the highest gross and net scores while individuals battled it out in “closest to the pin” and longest drive competitions.
First place in the gross score went to the team of Trey Scott, Buddy Ellison, Anthony Hamilton and Andy Robinson. The team, sponsored by High Country Insurance, finished with a final score of 53.
Second place went to the Blue Ridge Electric team of Clint Bedsaul, Ricky Bedsaul, Clint Caraway and Russell Sheets. They finished six shots back.
Skyline Telephone’s team of Jim Shepherd, Wes Minton, Harold Pruitt and Chris Jones took first in net score with 52.5.
In the closest to the pin competition, Danny Dixon won on the second hole and Jim Shepherd had the closest shot on the 17th hole. The longest drive went to Wes Minton on the 13th hole.
