Sarah Hardin and Olivia Barr shared an experience that only one other women’s golfer from Ashe County High School had been a part of. Those two got the chance to play in the 1A/2A State Championship Golf Tournament last week.
Hardin finished with a two-day total of 200 and Barr finished with 223.
“I am very proud of Olivia and Sarah for qualifying and competing in the state championship match. It is an outstanding accomplishment,” said Head Coach Laura Foster. “It truly was a special event for all involved. Olivia and Sarah represented our school and community extremely well and we are already looking forward to next year’s season.”
The team championship went to Salisbury High School while the individual champion came from the Mountain Valley Athletic Conference. Elkin’s Annika Winebarger finished with a two-day score of 151.
Isabella Rusher of Salisbury and Mary Frances Hall of Elkin finished tied for second place, three shots behind the top score.
Coach Foster wanted to thank the parents for all their help and support, as well as Marc Payne and the entire ACHS Athletic Department for their support throughout the season and the playoffs.
