Ashe split two conference games last week, a loss at Starmount on Thursday followed by a home victory over Wilkes Central on Friday.
Starmount 71, Ashe 50
Luke Shore scored 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds to keep the Rams in a tie for first place in the Mountain Valley Athletic Conference.
Senior Gunner Cass added 15 points and sophomore Kyler Gregory had 14 points.
For Ashe, junior Bradley Lucas poured in 19 points and had three rebounds. Senior Devan Sheets had 11 points, Cullen Ashley scored six, Connor Bowers added three, Gavin Woodie scored three, Alex Spencer added three and Kendall Richardson scored three. Kaleb Sexton scored the final two points.
Ashe 48, Wilkes Central 41
The Huskies’ starting five scored all 48 points for Ashe as they got a big win over rival Wilkes Central at home.
Lucas had 13 points and six rebounds while Bowers chipped in 13 points, two rebounds and two assists.
Ashley filled up the stat sheet with nine points, six rebounds, four steals and one assist. Spencer finished with nine points and Sheets scored four and grabbed three boards.
The Huskies are now 6-10 overall and 4-2 in the MVAC.
Ashe has a pair of road games this week. The Huskies wrap up the first half of the MVAC slate on Tuesday at West Wilkes and then travel to conference-leading Alleghany on Friday.
