Freshman Elaina Bassett, a former member of the Lady Husky Volleyball Team, and the rest of the Lees-McRae Bobcat players had their 2014 scheduled finalized last week.
The Bobcats will open the season on Sept. 5 in Winston-Salem as part of a two-day tournament where they will play four games. After that, the Bobcats stay on the road and travel to the University of South Carolina-Aiken for another two-day tourney, Sept. 12-13. The team will play four games there as well.
Lees-McRae’s home opener will be on Sept. 16 against Pfeiffer. That game also signals the opening round of conference action. The Bobcats follow that with five more home games against Converse, Limestone, Belmont Abbey, North Greenville and Southern Wesleyan.
Overall, the Bobcats will have 10 home games and 17 road games.
Lees-McRae ends the season with four straight road matches to round out conference play and the regular season.
The conference tournament will follow on Nov. 11.
LMC will be trying to bounce back from a rough season last year where they finished just 2-29 overall and did not win a single conference game.
Bassett is one of 10 members of a huge freshman class. The 5-10 outside hitter will join Haleigh Fletcher (Hunter Huss HS, Gastonia), Taylor Hicks (Sullivan Central HS, Blountville, Tennessee), Madison Martin (Charles B. Aycock HS, Goldsboro), London Mooneyham (Alexander Central HS, Hiddenite), Taylor Moretz (East Davidson HS, Lexington), Ana Rodriguez (Colegio Espiritu Santo, Cagua, Puerto Rico), Siarra Walker (Ledford Senior HS, Winston-Salem), Courtney Weathersbee (Garner Magnet HS, Raleigh) and Laneica Williams (Newton-Conover HS, Conover) as members of the incoming class.
Former Mountain Valley Athletic Conference player Haley Williams will enter her sophomore year.
The Bobcats are an extremely young team with no seniors listed on the roster.
