WEST JEFFERSON – Cesar Ruiz netted his 100th career goal to help the Ashe County Huskies continue its terrific season with a 5-0 win over West Wilkes in the regular season finale.The conference champion Huskies got a pair of goals from junior Victor Melo in the first half with one of those coming in the very first minute of the game. Melo’s other tally was in the 13th minute.In the second half, it was all Ruiz with a hat trick that included reaching that 100-goal milestone.The senior scored his first goal on a penalty kick in the 48th minute. Ruiz followed that up with goals in the 67th and 68th minutes.

 

Local basketball team competes at N.C. Senior Games
