Ashe County wreck report

ASHE COUNTY — The following accidents between Nov. 22 and Nov. 28 were reported by the North Carolina Highway Patrol and are considered public record.

Nov. 22

12:14 a.m.

West Jefferson

An animal collision occurred on Highway 221 less than a mile from West Jefferson. According to the narrative, Joshua Korey Bingham of Crumpler was traveling south when his vehicle struck a deer that ran into the roadway.

Bingham and one passenger, Olivia Bledsoe of Fleetwood, were uninjured.

The 2004 Ford involved had an estimated $2,500 in damages but was considered drivable.

Nov. 23

3:24 p.m.

Jefferson

A two-vehicle accident happened on Highway 221 less than a mile from Jefferson. According to the narrative, a truck driven by Kevin Dean Colvard of Crumpler was traveling south in the right lane. Colvard attempted to change lanes, but did not see a vehicle in the left lane, driven by Barbara Shook Phillips of Mebane, North Carolina. Colvard’s truck sideswiped Phillips’ vehicle.

Both drivers and one passenger, Evan Walker of Crumpler, were uninjured.

Colvard’s 2013 Chevrolet had about $500 in damages but was considered drivable.

Phillips’ 2005 Toyota had about $3,000 in damages and was not considered drivable.

No citations were issued.

Nov. 24

8:41 a.m.

West Jefferson

An animal collision happened on Highway 88 about three miles from West Jefferson. According to the narrative, John Wesley Brooks of West Jefferson was traveling west when his vehicle struck a deer that ran into the road.

Brooks was uninjured.

The 2012 Ford involved had approximately $2,000 in damages and was not considered drivable.

Nov. 25

10:12 a.m.

Warrensville

A parking lot collision happened at the Whistle Stop Cafe in Warrensville. According to the narrative Lisa Allison Sturgill of Lansing was backing up when she struck a parked vehicle owned by Wilton Gray Dillard of Lansing.

Sturgill was uninjured.

Sturgill’s 2012 Chevrolet had about $1,000 in damages but was considered drivable.

Dillard’s 1990 Chevrolet had about $800 in damages but was considered drivable.

No citations were issued.

6:52 p.m.

West Jefferson

An animal collision happened on Highway 221 about five miles from West Jefferson. According to the narrative, Herbert Michael Moretz of West Jefferson was traveling south when he struck a deer in the road.

Moretz was uninjured.

The 2014 Nissan involved had an estimated $5,000 in damages but was considered drivable.

Nov. 26

9:38 a.m.

Todd

An animal collision happened on 3 Top Road near Todd. According to the narrative, Bishnu L. Dahal of Henrico, Virginia was traveling north when the vehicle struck a deer that entered the roadway.

Dahal was uninjured.

The 2003 Honda involved had about $1,000 in damages but was considered drivable.

Nov. 27

12:24 p.m.

Lansing

A two-vehicle collision happened on Highway 194 less than a mile from Lansing. According to the narrative, Chandler Keith Barker of Lansing was attempting a left turn out of the Lansing Car Wash and was struck by a vehicle traveling north, driven by Jeanette Barr Greer of Lansing.

Barker was uninjured. Greer was transported to Ashe Memorial Hospital.

Barker’s 2000 Toyota had about $4,800 in damages and was not considered drivable.

Greer’s 2002 Ford had about $4,000 in damages and was not considered drivable.

Barker was cited for failure to yield.

4:49 p.m.

West Jefferson

A two-vehicle collision happened on Highway 163 less than a mile from West Jefferson. According to the narrative, Jerry Franklin Whitley Jr., of Catawba, North Carolina, was attempting to make U-turn when a vehicle driven by James Anderson Lawson III of Virginia Beach, Virginia could not slow down in time and collided with Whitley’s vehicle.

Both drivers and one passenger, Patricia Lawson of Virginia Beach, were uninjured.

Lawson’s 2004 Toyota had an estimated $4,500 in damages and was not considered drivable.

Whitley’s 2000 Dodge had an estimated $2,500 in damages but was considered drivable.

Lawson was cited for failure to reduce speed.

Nov. 28

10:19 a.m.

West Jefferson

A two-vehicle accident happened on Highway 221 less than a mile from West Jefferson. According to the narrative, Susan Pyatte Davis of Todd was traveling north and drove into the turning lane at Lowe’s Hardware. Davis attempted to make a U-turn but while turning left back into traffic on Highway 221, she was struck by a vehicle driven by Mahlon Laserle Aycock Jr., of Raleigh.

Davis and one passenger, Mary Burton Davis of Durham, North Carolina, were transported to Ashe Memorial Hospital.

Aycock and one passenger, Pamela Dickens Aycock of Raleigh, were uninjured.

Davis’ 2011 Volvo had approximately $2,000 in damages and was not considered drivable.

Aycock’s 2012 Chevrolet had about $1,000 in damages but was considered drivable.

Davis was cited for an unsafe movement.
