One injured in collision at ‘malfunction junction’

WEST JEFFERSON-One person received minor injuries as a result of a two-car accident Friday afternoon at the intersection of U.S. 221 and N.C. 163, according to West Jefferson Police Chief Jeff Rose.

The accident occurred around 12:30 p.m. when a red Dodge Caravan collided with a silver Toyota Corolla. Rose said one of the drivers ran a red light.

The Corolla sustained damage to its back right panel.

Names of those involved and an officer narrative were not immediately available.
