ASHE COUNTY — Two local men were charged with major drug offenses by the Ashe County Sheriff’s Office last week.
On March 30, 2016, Steven Glenn Burke Jr., 31, of West Jefferson was charged with two counts of possession with the intent to manufacture/sell/deliver a Schedule II Controlled Substance, possession of methamphetamine, conspire to traffic methamphetamine, resisting a public officer and driving with a revoked license.
According to arrest warrants issued Feb. 1, 2016, Burke allegedly sold and delivered some 2.7 grams of methamphetamine to a confidential source. Additional warrants issued on July 1, 2015, allege that Burke conspired with two other me to traffic some 400 grams of methamphetamine, while additional warrants issued July 17, 2015, indicate that Burke possessed and intended to sell some 20.2 grams of methamphetamine.
Burke’s bond was set at $750,000 secured, with an April 1, first appearance. Burke has not been released.
Also on March 30, Billy Joe Combs, 48, of Jefferson was charged with six counts of trafficking opium or heroin.
According to arrest warrants issued on multiple dates during the month of September 2015, Combs sold and delivered some 2.3 grams of Opana, a powerful opioid painkiller, to a confidential informant. Warrants also indicated that authorities believed Combs manufactured, sold and delivered four to 14 grams of opiates to a confidential source last fall.
Combs’ bond was set at $125,000 secured, with an April 1, first appearance. Combs has not been released.
The following individuals were arrested and booked in the Ashe County Detention Center Thursday, March 24 through Wednesday, March 30. The information is provided by the Ashe County Sheriff’s Office and is public record.
Travis Kent Casimir, 30, of Jefferson was charged with simple assault. Bond was set at $1,500 secured. Casimir was released the next day. Casimir’s first court date is June 3.
Jeff Daniel Seiverling, 61, of Jefferson was charged with communicating threats. Bond was set at $10,000 secured. Seiverling has not been released. Seiverling’s first court date is May 6.
Jason Richard Griffin, 31, of Hays was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Bond was set at $2,000. Griffin has not been released. Griffin’s first court date was April 1.
Daniel Lee Greer, 30, of West Jefferson was charged with probation violation. Bond was set at $10,000 secured. Greer has not been released.
