JEFFERSON-A Purlear man is offering a $500 reward for the arrest and conviction of the persons responsible for the theft of his bicycle from his flatbed truck Sunday afternoon.

The alleged theft occurred in the parking lot of Winner’s Circle restaurant in Jefferson, according to the reported victim, Matthew Eller.

Eller, an Ashe County native, was attending Sunday dinner with his family and two sons when the theft occurred.

“It’s a shame you can’t enjoy Sunday dinner with your family without worrying about someone stealing something from you,” said Eller.

Perplexing to Eller was the fact that although his bike was stolen, the perpetrator left his son’s bicycle untouched and even strapped it back down to bed of the truck before leaving.

Anyone with information regarding the theft are urged to contact Eller at (336) 977-8306.
