ASHE COUNTY — The following accidents between April 10 and April 16 were reported by the North Carolina Highway Patrol and are considered public record.
A single-vehicle accident happened on Luther Road in Jefferson. According to the narrative, Jordan Daniel Roberts of Creston was traveling north when the vehicle lost control in the road and ran off the left side of the road and overturned.
Roberts refused medical transport.
The 1992 Chevrolet involved had about $6,000 in damages and was not considered drivable.
Roberts was cited for driving left of center.
A two-vehicle accident happened on Highway 221 in West Jefferson. According to the narrative, Peggy Medley Cox of Todd was traveling south. Cox had to stop abruptly for traffic ahead. A vehicle driven by Ivey Collins Hornbuckle of Rougemont, North Carolina was unable to slow down in time and struck Cox’s vehicle in the rear.
Both drivers were uninjured.
Hornbuckle’s 2011 Subaru had approximately $3,000 in damages but was considered drivable.
Cox’s 2004 Toyota had approximately $2,000 in damages but was considered drivable.
Hornbuckle was cited for failure to reduce speed.
A three-vehicle accident happened at the intersection of Campus Drive and Highway 221. According to the narrative, Parker Davis Shelton of West Jefferson was attempting a right turn onto Highway 221. Shelton turned in front of a vehicle driven by Grant Allen Hopkins of West Jefferson, who was traveling north. Hopkins’ vehicle started to turn over into the south bound lane where it collided with a vehicle driven by Marty Ray Bost of Crumpler.
All three drivers were uninjured.
Shelton’s 2006 Toyota had an estimated $6,000 in damages but was considered drivable.
Hopkins’ 1979 Ford had an estimated $3,000 in damages and was not considered drivable.
Bost’s 1995 Ford had an estimated $1,000 in damages but was considered drivable.
Shelton was cited for failure to yield.
