Here’s what happened in district court this week

The following cases were heard or continued in the latest session of Ashe County District Court on May 12. This information was obtained from the Ashe County Clerk of Court’s criminal division.

Billy Joe Combs, who is facing felony charges of trafficking in opium/heroin, is scheduled to reappear in court on June 2.

Danny Garcia received a prayer for judgment continued for a misdemeanor intoxicated and disruptive charge. He was ordered to pay court costs and not appear intoxicated in public at any time. He is also prohibited from going onto the parking lot of Food Lion in Jefferson.

Sandra Jean Goodman received a PJC for a misdemeanor larceny charge. She must pay retribution to Holly Mountain Enterprises and not be on the company’s property. She has 45 days to pay the retribution.

Tammy Denise Greene received a sentence of 60 days in the Ashe County Jail, suspended for 12 months of supervised probation for a simple assault charge. She was ordered to pay court costs and comply with the terms of her treatment. She must also provide proof of completion of the program.

Jose Herrera was sentenced to 10 days in the ACJ, suspended for 12 months of supervised probation for a misdemeanor intoxicated and disruptive charge. He was ordered to pay court costs. He is prohibited from appearing intoxicated in public and must stay away from Food Lion property.

Crystal Lynn Maxwell was sentenced to 60 days in the ACJ, suspended for 12 months of unsupervised probation for simple assault. She must pay court costs and is prohibited from being in the parking lot at Walmart.

Terry Saunders was sentenced to 90 days in the state’s misdemeanor confinement program, suspended for 12 months of probation for DWI. Saunders was ordered to pay $200 plus court costs.

John Mark Severt received a PJC for a misdemeanor charge of being intoxicated and disruptive. He was ordered to not appear intoxicated in pubilc and is prohibited from being in the parking lot of Food Lion in Jefferson.

Jennifer Williams, who was charged with misdemeanor possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance, is scheduled to reappear in court on July 7.
