JEFFERSON-Two Ashe County men will reappear in superior court on June 1 for their alleged role in the arson of North Beaver Baptist Church in July 2012.

As a result of an investigation by the Ashe County Sheriff’s Department, Damion Okoyia Blevins, 23, and Anthony Dustin Graybeal, 27, were both charged with felony burn of religious building, felony break and enter place of worship and felony larceny after breaking and entering.

The church has since been rebuilt, but at another location a short distance down the road on N.C. 163.

Ashe County Fire Marshal Bob Davis previously said the fire appeared to have started in a small hallway located between the sanctuary and an office.

Extensive damage to the interior of the church was apparent and the roofs over both sections of the building were destroyed by the fire.

Reach Jesse Campbell at 336-846-7164.
