WEST JEFFERSON-Roughly one-quarter of Ashe County residents lost power early Saturday afternoon, according to power outage information provided by Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation.
Some 5,100 customers found themselves without service just after 3 p.m. July 23. The outage impacted areas from West Jefferson north to the state line.
BREMCO Public Relations Director Renee Whitener said shortly before 4 p.m. Saturday that a tree on the line was to blame for the service disruption. The company had the power switched back on for nearly the entirety of Ashe County before 6:30 p.m.
We’ll update with further details as we learn them.
