Ashe Seniors compete in senior games

BOONE — Ashe County seniors recently participated in the 26th Annual High Country Senior Games from May 1 to June 6.

“They did a great job and brought home many medals,” Senior Center Assistant Veda Johnson said. “We are very proud of their commitment and hard work.”

Watauga County Parks and Recreation, Watauga County Project on Aging, Avery Senior Services, Mitchell Senior Center, Region D Area on Aging and Watauga High School were also present for the event along with Ashe Senior Center.

Sports and activities included basketball, discus, golf, running, walking, cycling, swimming, bowling, billiards, corn hole, croquet, horseshoes, racquetball, tennis and more.

The event was sponsored by Dianne Davant and Associates, Adult Services Coalition of Watauga County, Hardee’s, Life Care Center of Banner Elk and Appalachian Brian Estates.
