JEFFERSON-An Ashe County man is facing an assault with a deadly weapon charge after authorities say he stabbed a man multiple times early Saturday morning.
Danny Horton, 44, was taken into Ashe County Sheriff’s Office custody shortly after 8 a.m. Sept. 17, according to Ashe County Sheriff James Williams. He was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. He’s currently held in the Ashe County Detention Center on $753,000 secured bond.
Williams said Horton got into a physical altercation with another man – Williams identified the stabbing victim as Roger Ray – at a Nikanor Road apartment complex sometime between 5 and 6 a.m. Sept. 17. Williams said he couldn’t speculate as to the cause of the disagreement.
“Horton ended up pulling a knife and stabbing the other man in the neck, the arm and several other places before leaving,” Williams said. “Ray also had a collapsed lung and was transported to (Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center) with nonlife-threatening injuries.”
Williams said Horton was later found at a mobile home park in West Jefferson and taken into custody without incident. Check back at www.jeffersonpost.com for further details as they become available.
