WEST JEFFERSON — The Ashe County Chamber of Commerce welcomed new owners Bud Sears and Jennifer Barker of The Hot Spot with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Wednesday, July 1.

The Hot Spot is a Specialty Hearth Retailer which offers firepits, indoor and outdoor kitchens, mantels and custom furniture.

Sears is a liscensed General Contractor originally from Maryland and owns Unique Productions Inc. He moved from Maryland to Hickory in 1993 and worked as a contractor there before moving to Ashe County.

Barker is from Ashe County and will be the manager of The Hot Spot.

Remodeling the building was a year-long process for Sears and Barker. The building was built in 1938 and was previously a real estate brokers office.

The Hot Spot officially opened Monday, June 29 for a soft open.

“We’ve had a lot of walk-ins,” Sears said. “We were really surprised with the amount of walk-ins we had. A lot of people have been anticipating it for quite some time now.”

The Hot Spot is located at 202 S. Jefferson Ave in downtown West Jefferson. For more information call 336-846-5000.
