WEST JEFFERSON — Saturday’s car show at Ashe County High School will have a little extra importance this year for Martha Grissom.

Grissom is the proud owner of a 1950 Chevrolet truck that was recently restored by Klassic Rides in Denver, North Carolina.

Grissom said the truck had not been driven for 10 years and will now be shown off at the high school.

The truck has 74,000 original miles with a 216 cubic inch, V6 motor, a three-speed transmission and six-volt electrical system.

Grissom has had this truck since the mid-1990’s and decided she just had to have one after seeing a television commercial featuring a truck like this one in the 1970’s.

The partial restoration was completed and Grissom expects to have the truck back on July 9, two days before the show.
