Former Ashe superintendent charged with DWI

BURNSVILLE — Former Ashe County superintendent Todd Holden was charged with driving while intoxicated on Sunday, Feb. 25 after a traffic stop in Burnsville.

Holden left the Ashe County school system on July 1, 2016 to take the same position in the Madison County school system. Holden was the Ashe County superintendent from 2013 until this past summer.

According to the Yancey County clerk’s office, Holden was stopped at 11:29 p.m. on US-19 in Burnsville. He was cited and taken to the Yancey County jail where he was held on a $1,000 unsecured bond.

Holden posted his bond and was released.
