LENOIR — Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation has selected four interns to work with the operations crews in Ashe, Alleghany, Caldwell, and Watauga counties. The interns are learning different aspects of line construction and maintenance of the cooperative’s existing systems.
Cody Hampton is working with the operations team in Watauga district. He is a 2015 graduate of Watauga High School and plans to attend Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute (CCC&TI) in the fall. Cody is a volunteer fireman with Stewart Simmons Volunteer Fire Department and is the son of Mitchell Hampton.
Spencer Greene is the operations intern in Caldwell district. He will graduate from Hibriten High School in December and plans to participate in the Electrical Lineman Institute program at CCC&TI. Spencer is the son of Bill and Arlene Greene.
John Ball is working with the operations team in Ashe district. He graduated from Ashe County High School and plans to attend Wilkes Community College to pursue a two-year degree in Electronics Engineering. John also plans to complete the Electrical Lineman Institute program. He is the son of Allen and Melanie Ball.
Dylan Houck is the operations intern in Alleghany district. He is a rising senior at Alleghany High School and has worked for Alleghany County Recreation as a grounds man since June 2013. Dylan is the son of Rex and Tonya Houck.
Blue Ridge Electric is excited to work with these selected interns as they gain firsthand career experience. The interns will be with the cooperative until August.
