The 2013 elections will take place Tuesday, Nov. 5 for the Ashe County municipalities of Jefferson, Lansing and West Jefferson.
Voters of each area can report to their from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. This year, there was no early voting or absentee voting for the elections for the alderman positions in the three towns.
West Jefferson will have one alderman race. There are four candidates running for three positions.
The candidates for Alderman are: Calvin Green, Bob Nichols, John K. Reeves and Stephen S. Shoemaker. Green and Shoemaker are incumbents in the race.
The West Jefferson election will take place at the Ashe County Arts Council Building which is located on School Ave.
In Jefferson, there will be one alderman race. Three candidates are running for three positions.
They are: Bluferd W. Eldreth, Mark Johnston and Max Yates. All three candidates are incumbents.
Voters can report to the Jefferson precinct at the Jefferson Volunteer Fire Department located on Northwest Drive.
The town of Lansing will have two separate alderman races. One race will be for a four-year term while the other is for an unexpired term which will run through in 2015.
For the four-year term, there are four candidates and the top three will be on the board. They are: Jack Brown, Dylan Lightfoot, Dennis Trainor Jr. and Kena Trainor.
Brown and Lightfoot are the incumbents.
The unexpired term has two candidates and the person with the most votes will be on the board. They are: Nita Church and Michelle Slaton.
Slaton is the incumbent.
Lansing voters will vote at the Piney Creek precinct, which is located at the Lansing Fire Department on N.C. Highway 194.
