The following are collision reports posted by the N.C. Highway Patrol in Ashe County the week of July 7.


The reports are public record.


July 7


A two-car crash occurred on U.S. 221 near the intersection of N.C. 16 east of Jefferson at 8:30 a.m. on July 7.


According to the narrative, James Wyatt, of West Jefferson, was traveling west on U.S. 221 while Herbert Wilcox, of Crumpler, was traveling east. Wilcox was attempting to turn left onto N.C. 16.


Both vehicles entered the intersection and Wilcox collided with Wyatt as he was turning left. Wilcox’s vehicle spun around and came to a rest in the roadway while Wyatt’s vehicle went off the road striking a road sign and struck a metal bar that was in the ground.


Ashe Medics arrived on the scene. One person was sent to Ashe Memorial Hospital while the other refused help.


Wyatt’s vehicle, a 2000 International single-unit truck, was rendered not drivable and had $12,000 in estimated damages. Wilcox’s vehicle, a 2006 GMC pickup truck, was rendered not drivable and had $8,000 in estimated damages.


Wilcox was cited for unsafe movement.


July 10


Grassy Creek


A one-vehicle wreck occurred on N.C. 16 near Grassy Creek at 8 a.m. on July 10.


According to the narrative, Aaron Pugh, of Grassy Creek, was traveling north on N.C. 16 when he crossed the center-line and drove off the left side of the road. The vehicle then impacted a concrete wall, where it came to a rest.


Pugh’s vehicle, a 2007 Dodge pickup, was rendered not drivable and had $3,500 in estimated damage.


No citations were issued.


Warrensville


An animal collision occurred on West Mill Creek Road near Warrensville at 4:25 p.m. on July 10.


According to the narrative, Brenda Roten, of Warrensville, was traveling west on the road when she collided with a canine that had entered the roadway.


The vehicle, a 2005 Toyota SUV was rendered drivable and only had $800 in damages.


No citations were issued.


Near Virginia state line


An animal collision occurred on N.C. 16 near the Virginia State line at 8:27 p.m. on July 10.


According to the narrative, Karen Wiles, of Mouth of Wilson, Va., was traveling north on N.C. 16 when she collided with a deer that was crossing the highway.


Wiles’s vehicle, a 2014 Dodge car, was rendered not drivable and had $3,800 in estimated damages.


No citations were issued.


July 12


An animal collision occurred on Joe Hampton Road northwest of Lansing at 5:30 a.m. on July 12.


According to the narrative, Steven Ellis, of Lansing, was traveling south on the road and struck a deer that ran into the road.


Ellis’s vehicle, a 2014 Ram pickup, was rendered drivable, but had $2,000 in estimated damages.
