The Ashe County Home Builders Association will be hosting its Fourth Annual Gun and Sports Show at the Shatley Farms Distribution Center in Jefferson.
“We’ll have everything,” said Tammie Pruitt-Coffey, executive officer of the ACHBA. “We’ll have antique firearms, assault rifles…really just guns of all kinds. We have gun boxes and safes, knives, military surplus, tactical gear and survival gear.”
In addition, coins will also be for sale at the event.
The event will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday April 26 and Sunday April 27. Admission to the gun show is $8 per day or $12 for a two day pass, but children under the age of 12 get in free.
In addition, current and former military members, as well as current law enforcement and emergency service workers will receive half-off admission for the event.
This show is used to raise funds for community service projects the association provides.
“We do community service such as in 2013 we built a ramp for a handicap child in the county, we assisted the Ashe County Library with the Twig project and we raised over $3,000 for the operation finally home veterans,” Pruitt-Coffey said. “We also have a $1,000 scholarship to Wilkes Community College’s Ashe Campus.”
Also coming to the event will be Captain Harvey, from Seward, Alaska. Pruitt-Coffey said he will have information on his hunting and fishing guide trips he does in Alaska.
All of the work for the event is voluntarily performed by the ACHBA members.
“(Planning includes) listing the event on state and national websites to solicit venders, then it takes weeks of planning the setup, the location and catering to the vender needs such as lodging for the weekend,” Pruitt-Coffey said.
Shatley Farms Distribution Center is located across from Ashelawn Memorial Gardens off U.S. 221 in Jefferson.
