The following are collision reports posted by the N.C. Highway Patrol in Ashe County and are considered public record.


July 28


Lansing


A single-vehicle accident occurred at 7:45 a.m. on Joe Weaver Rd. in Lansing. According to the narrative, Taylor Edwards of Indian Trail, North Carolina was traveling south when Edwards’ vehicle drifted off the road on the right hand side before crossing the center line and over-correcting into a fence. Edwards’ vehicle then hit a ditch and overturned, coming to a stop on its left side.


The 2008 Subaru was rendered not driveable and had an estimated $9,000 in damages.


Edwards was cited for failure to maintain lane control.


Jefferson


A two-car accident occurred at 2:15 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 88 E and Highway 221. According to the narrative, a vehicle driven by Justin Harless of Jefferson was intentionally sideswiped by a vehicle driven by Pamela Eller of West Jefferson in an attempt to stop the vehicle.


Harless’ 2005 Chevrolet sustained an estimated $1,000 in damages but was considered driveable. Eller’s 2003 Audi sustained an estimated $1,000 in damages but was considered driveable.


No one was injured.


Eller was sited for reckless driving and driving with no insurance.


July 30


Jefferson


A single-vehicle accident occurred at 4:57 p.m. near Old Highway 16. According to the narrative, a vehicle driven by Valarie Cruey of Lansing met a vehicle in a curve and was backing up to let the vehicle pass when her vehicle left the shoulder of the road and overturned. The vehicle came to rest on its top.


Cruey’s 1999 Toyota suffered an estimated $5,000 in damages and was rendered not driveable.


Cruey was uninjured. She was sited for lane control violation.


West Jefferson


A single-vehicle accident occurred at 7:13 p.m. According to the narrative, a vehicle driven by Hanna Eudy of New London, North Carolina was traveling east on W. Reno Road when she moved to the side of the roadway to give an oncoming vehicle room to pass. Eudy’s vehicle ran off the right shoulder of the road and overturned down an embankment.


Eudy was uninjured. Her 2000 Ford suffered $7,000 worth of damages and was rendered not driveable.


Jefferson


A single-vehicle accident occurred at 11:31 p.m. On Shelter Baptist Church Road. According to the narrative, a vehicle driven by Michael Roland of Crumpler was traveling west when he ran off the right shoulder of the road and overturned. The vehicle struck a tree and came to rest on its side.


Roland was uninjured however his 2004 Jeep suffered an estimated $7,000 worth of damage. The vehicle was considered driveable.


Roland was cited for lane control violation.


Jefferson


A single-vehicle accident occurred at 5:22 p.m. On Highway 88 in Jefferson. According to the narrative, a vehicle driven by Michael Roten of Lansing was traveling west when his vehicle crossed the center line and ran off the left shoulder.


Roten’s vehicle then struck a guardrail and came back across the road. The vehicle ran off the right shoulder and struck a ditch before shooting across the roadway into the guardrail once again and coming to a stop.


Roten was uninjured. His 2000 Honda suffered an estimated $6,000 of damage and was rendered not driveable.


Roten was cited for reckless driving.


Jefferson


A head-on collision between two vehicles took place on a side road near the intersection of Roy Goodman Rd. and Highway 221 in Jefferson.


According to the narrative, a vehicle driven by Kevin Woodie of Laurel Springs was traveling west on a narrow gravel road when Woodie’s vehicle traveled left of center and hit a vehicle driven by Christina Wagoner of Lansing. Wagoner’s vehicle went left of center and the two vehicles struck in the middle of a curve.


One injured person was taken to Ashe Memorial Hospital.


Woodie’s 1994 Toyota suffered approximately $6,000 in damages and was rendered not driveable. Wagoner’s 2013 Ford suffered approximately $10,000 in damages and was rendered not driveable.


Woodie was cited for exceeding safe speeds and failure to wear a seat belt.


July 31


West Jefferson


An animal collision occurred at 5:15 a.m. on Highway 163. According to the narrative, Kinsey Jones of Lansing was traveling south on Highway 163 when her 2012 Nissan struck a deer in the roadway. The vehicle suffered an estimated $1,000 in damages but was considered driveable.


West Jefferson


An animal collision occurred at 9:10 p.m. on Ray Taylor Road. According to the narrative, Justin McNeill of West Jefferson was traveling south when his 1998 Dodge struck a deer trying to cross the road. An estimated $1,200 of damage was done to the vehicle but it was considered driveable.
