Four Ashe artists in Wilkes Gallery Group exhibit

Four Ashe County artists are participating in an upcoming group exhibit at the Wilkes Art Gallery in North Wilkesboro.


Tonya Bottomley, Mary-Ann Prack, Cher Shaffer, and Susan Van Wyk are members of a women’s art group called ArtMix.


ArtMix is a diverse group of 12 women artists from a five-county area of northwest N.C.. The group was formed 20 years ago, and exhibits together at various venues throughout the state.


Bottomley, Shaffer, and Van Wyk will have paintings on exhibit. Prack will be exhibiting ceramic sculpture.


Other mediums in the show include photography, fiber, and pastel. Other exhibiting members of ArtMix are Orna Bentor, Cindy Breden, Mary Anne Caplinger, Judy Humphrey, Judy McNeill, Betty Powell, and Marianne Suggs.


The public is invited to attend the opening reception for the ArtMix exhibit 6-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, at the Wilkes Art Gallery located at 913 C Street in North Wilkesboro. Admission is free.


Light refreshments will be served, artwork from the exhibit will be available for sale, and the artists will be on hand to discuss their work. The exhibition will be on display Sept. 27 through Nov. 2.
