Cesar Ruiz and Frank Ledezma made sure that the Huskies’ three-game losing skid was coming to an end by scoring 12 goals combined in the previous two games, a pair of blowout victories over Alleghany and Oak Hill Academy.

On Monday, Ashe traveled to Alleghany for the team’s conference opener. Ruiz netted a hat trick while Ledezma added two goals and the team got one goal apiece from Alexis Ramos, Jackson Sloan, Jamie Weaver and Shawn McKiddy. The game ended in a 9-0 mercy rule.

The Huskies were right back at it on Tuesday, scoring right where they left off. Ruiz scored his first goal in the third minute of play. Ledezma tallied two straight goals just over a minute apart in the 15th and 16th minute to take a 3-0 lead.

That would be the score until five minute into the second half when Weaver connected on a nice header for the Huskies’ fourth goal.

Ledezma completed his hat trick in the 50th minute, and then assisted on Ruiz’s next goal just one minute later with an excellent crossing pass through the box.

Ruiz capped of his own hat trick in the 54th minute to put Ashe in front, 7-0.

Victor Melo scored in the 61st minute and Ledezma scored his fourth of the match in the 64th minute to put an end to the game at 9-0.

The Huskies evened its record to 4-4 overall and are 1-0 in the Mountain Valley Athletic Conference.

Ashe has three matches next week. The Huskies will host Starmount on Monday, travel to Wilkes Central on Wednesday and wrap up the week with a non-conference match on Friday at Newton-Conover.
