Ashe jumped on West Wilkes early with two quick goals that set the tone for the rest of the game.
Victor Melo started the scoring with a goal in the 14th minute, followed by a strike from Jamie Weaver in the 18th minute to put the Huskies up 2-0.
West Wilkes was able to keep Ashe from scoring for the final 20 minutes of the first half, but still trailed, 2-0.
15 minutes into the second half, Trent Pruitt received a perfect pass from Frank Ledezma on the far post and booted a shot by the Blackhawk keeper for the third goal of the night.
Senior Matt Ball added the fourth goal with a long shot on a free kick well outside the box that seemed to end any hopes that the Blackhawks might have had for a second half comeback.
Weaver put the final tally on the board with his second goal of the night in the 77th minute to propel Ashe to its ninth win of the season. The Huskies are 9-6 overall and 6-1 in the Mountain Valley Athletic Conference.
The conference season is officially at the half-way mark, and Ashe sits in a tie for first place with rival Wilkes Central. Central picked up an easy 9-0 victory over Alleghany on Monday.
