XC teams run strong at home

Ashe hosted its second cross country meet of the season and the Husky runners continued to place near the top of the standings as they have for most of the season.


The women’s team finished first overall while the men’s team grabbed second.


In the women’s race, Elkin’s Shakai Ward finished first in just over 22 minutes.


Ashe had four runners in the top 10 spots. Mac Church was fifth with a finishing time of 23:09. Alexes Armstrong (23:22) and Vic Reed (23:29) finished sixth and seventh. Tyler Eller finished the race in 23:43, good enough for ninth place.

Elkin also had the top finisher in the men’s race. Jacob Parker crossed the finish line in 17:45, just seven seconds ahead of Ashe runner Andrew Tedder in second.


Gareth Berry had a good race, finishing in fourth place in 18:08. RJ Burke grabbed eighth place in a time of 19:25.
