Ashe took part in the 2A Cross Country State Championship Meet last weekend with eight runners competing.

Gareth Berry was the lone Husky runner in the men’s race. Berry finished in 42nd place overall with a finishing time of 17:34.

In the women’s race, Vic Reed placed 62nd in the state in 22:06. Mac Church finished 83rd, Margot Mattix took 97th place, Alexes Armstrong and Caroline Trent finished 107th and 108th respectively, Kayln Chapman was 120th and Brooklyn Roten was 124th.

Former Ashe County runners Josh Rees-Jones and Mitch Rees-Jones also raced in the 2A Championship Meet. The twin brothers were selected to attend the North Carolina School of Science and Math this year. Josh finished as state runner-up in 16:43 and Mitch placed 44th overall in 17:45.
