Jay Harrill scored 23 points and the Watauga Pioneers shot 61-percent from the field to easily defeat the Ashe County Huskies, 82-50.
Harrill drilled four three-point shots that helped put Ashe in an early hole and led the way to a whopping 30-point second quarter score total for the Pioneers.
Ashe trailed by just six going to the second before the big scoring spurt that gave the Pioneers a 49-23 halftime lead.
Cam Baker and Matt Lambert both added 12 points to give the Pioneers three double-figure scorers.
Alex Spencer was Ashe’s top scorer with 16 points on 6-10 shooting. Devan Sheets had eight points, Cullen Ashley scored seven points and grabbed three rebounds and Maison McNeill scored five points off the bench.
Connor Bowers had four points, four rebounds and four assists. Evan Owen and Parker Shelton each scored four points, Gavin Woodie had two points and Bradley Lucas had a game-high five assists.
Ashe dropped to 1-6 overall and 0-3 at home. Watauga improved to 6-1 overall and 3-1 in the road this season.
The Huskies are scheduled to host Mount Airy on Monday, travel to Avery on Tuesday and come back home to play Alleghany on Friday.
