Connor Bowers scored eight points, including the game-winner at the horn to give the Huskies a 44-42 win over Alleghany on Friday night.
The game was tied at 27-27 going to the fourth quarter after a rough first half of basketball where both teams combined for just 25 points. Ashe held a 14-11 halftime advantage.
Cullen Ashley led the way with 14 points and six rebounds. Bowers finished with eight points and a team-leading four assists. Devan Sheets had six points and three offensive rebounds and Bradley Lucas ended the game with six points, five rebounds and three assists.
Sophomore Maison McNeill added five points, Alex Spencer scored four and Parker Shelton hit one free throw.
The Huskies shot just 34-percent from the field (16-47) but played good enough to defense to secure its second conference win in as many tries.
Ashe is now 3-7 overall and 2-0 in the Mountain Valley Athletic Conference. Alleghany is 5-3 overall and 1-1 in the MVAC.
The Huskies will be on the court this weekend for the annual Colvard Oil Holiday Classic. Ashe will play Hibriten in the first round on Friday in the final game of the night.
