With the first half of the Mountain Valley Conference season nearly completed, the Ashe County junior varsity boys team continues to hammer its opponents by double figures nearly every time out.
After starting the season with wins over Avery and North Surry, the team suffered non-conference losses to Hibriten and road games at North Surry and Watauga. Since then however, the Huskies have been on a tear, beating conference opponents by an average of 31 points per game.
On Wednesday, Ashe traveled to West Wilkes and beat the Blackhawks, 54-40.
CoCo Clay led all scorers with 22 points and freshman point guard Judd Price added 14 points.
Ashe was back on the court Friday night and easily handled Alleghany, 54-39. Clay scored 19 points, Price had a double-double with 11 points and 11 assists and Stanton Moore also recorded a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds.
The Huskies are now 12-3 overall and 6-0 in the MVAC.
