The National Weather Service in Blacksburg, Va., has issued a flash flood watch for Ashe, Allegany, Surry, Watauga and Wilkes counties in effect throught this evening.

More heavy rain is expected for affected areas this afternoon and evening, with an inch or more accumulation possible within an hour.

Some of this rain will occur over locations where soils are already saturated from heavy rain over the past few days, so any new rainfall may convert directly, causing streams and drainages to rise very quickly.
