Dear editor,

Upon reading the article, “Travel teams impacting school sports” I was, and still am, very upset with how Mr. Nathan Ham degraded the youth that choose not to play a sport at ACHS.

He spoke of interviewing “area coaches,” but he failed to interview a member of a traveling team to get both sides of the story.

Perhaps if one, or many of these athletes had been interviewed, he would understand their choice. The youth of the county are very special people whose opinions and choices regarding their future should be respected. These choices should make them happy, not just a coach, or a teammate. Their choices do not need to be criticized, as Mr. Ham did in his article.

I invite Mr. Ham to attend any game played by a quality traveling team, from any sport, to watch a showcase tournament and witness the discipline, desire and dedication each team member brings to the table. Then and only then, could he understand the choices made by these athletes.
