The Walmart Foundation and the Ashe County Walmart Facility #3289 have awarded a grant through the Local Facility Giving Program in the amount of $1,500.
The grant will enable the Museum of Ashe County History to continue the employment of a library specialist.
Darlene Van Dyke is organizing and cataloging the museum’s collection of over 1,000 books, magazines, school yearbooks and genealogical references. Once completed, the materials will be easy to access, and will make information easier to find for the museum staff and researchers who want to learn more about Ashe County.
The Museum of Ashe County History is becoming known as a go-to resource for information about Ashe County. It is visited by folks from other states and other countries, as well as by new arrivals and native residents who want to know more about this place and how it came to be.
Ashe County has great stories, and it is the museum’s job to remember them and tell them.
