It is less than a month until high school football games start to count, and even less time until the first practice and scrimmages of the season.
Ashe County’s first regular season game will be a non-conference battle against North Surry at home on Aug. 22.
Before that, fall sports practice officially fires up on Aug. 1 and the first football scrimmage will be on Aug. 11 against Surry Central at ACHS at 6 p.m.
Ashe will have a final scrimmage on Aug. 15 at Lincolnton before the season opens at 5:30 p.m.
The Huskies travel to Watauga to face the rival Pioneers on Aug. 29
September opens with a home game against R.J. Reynolds before the team ends its non-conference slate of games on Sept. 12 at Hibriten.
Ashe has a week off before Mountain Valley Conference games crank up with a home tilt against Alleghany on Sept. 26.
The Huskies have back-to-back road games at Wilkes Central (Oct. 3) and West Wilkes (Oct. 10).
Homecoming events will be on Oct. 17 with East Wilkes being the opponent.
The following week will be Senior Night against North Wilkes on Oct. 24.
Ashe closes the regular season with two straight road games. The Huskies go to Starmount on Halloween night and travel to Elkin on Nov. 7. State playoff action starts Nov. 14.
All varsity games will kick off at 7:30 p.m.
