The Appalachian State Women’s Basketball Team already know who they will play during the 2014-15 season, which includes two non-conference games against former Southern Conference opponents and a trip to UNC-Chapel Hill.
App State is set to play 28 games with half of those being at home.
“We are excited about the challenges for the 2014-15 season,” said head coach Darcie Vincent. “This is a new era in App State women’s basketball and we are ready to hit the ground running.”
ASU opens the season at the University of Kentucky on Nov. 14. The team then travels to former SoCon foe East Tennessee State University on Nov. 19.
The Mountaineers open its home slate of games on Nov. 22 with UNC-Wilmington. App hosts Gardner Webb (Nov. 25) and Radford (Nov. 30) to round out the month.
December opens with former SoCon rival Furman (Dec. 6) and a trip to Chapel Hill to face the Tarheels on Dec. 14. The final game of the month will also be the final non-conference game of the year at home against North Carolina A&T on Dec. 17.
The inaugural Sun Belt season opens at Arkansas State on Jan. 3. The first Sun Belt home game at the Holmes Convocation Center will be Jan. 5 against Louisiana-Lafayette.
After that, the ladies travel to South Alabama (Jan. 8) and Arkansas-Little Rock (Jan. 10).
ASU has three of the next four at home. Arkansas State comes on Boone on Jan. 15 as does Georgia State two days later. The team heads to Troy on Jan. 19 and returns home for the second matchup with South Alabama on Jan. 22.
Six of the next eight come on the road for the Mountaineers during a crucial stretch of the season. App heads to San Marcos, Texas to face Texas State on Jan. 24. The team then heads to Statesboro to face Georgia Southern (Jan. 29) and opens the month of February at Louisiana-Lafayette (Feb. 5).
The Mountaineers get a quick break from the road with a back-to-back home stand against Troy (Feb. 7) and Arkansas-Little Rock (Feb. 12).
The brutal stretch of road games ends with a Valentine’s Day game against Louisiana-Monroe, a trip to Texas-Arlington on Feb. 19 and the final road game of the season at Georgia State on Feb. 21.
App State closes the year with four straight at home. Georgia Southern (Feb. 26), UL-Monroe (Feb. 28), Texas State (March 5) and UT-Arlington (March 7) round out the regular season.
The Sun Belt Tournament begins on Wednesday, March 11 and will crown a champion on Saturday, March 14 in New Orleans.
