The Ashe County Huskies will open its 2014 campaign against the rival Pioneers at home. The season opener is set for Aug. 18.
Ashe will head off the mountain for a pair of non-conference matches against Alexander Central (Aug. 21) and Hibriten (Aug. 25) before returning home for two non-conference tilts against Newton-Conover (Aug. 26) and Avery (Aug. 28).
September begins with Ashe’s return trip to Watauga (Sept.4) and the first Mountain Valley Conference match of the season on Sept. 8 against Alleghany at home.
The Huskies go to Elkin and Starmount for back-to-back road matches on Sept. 11 and Sept. 15.
Ashe returns home on Sept. 18 to face rival Wilkes Central before going back on the road to East Wilkes on Sept. 22.
Oak Hill Academy makes the short trip from Mouth of Wilson to ACHS on Sept. 23. Ashe ends play that week on Sept. 25 at North Wilkes.
The first half of the conference slate of matches ends on Sept. 29 at West Wilkes.
Ashe begins the second half of the MVAC season at Alleghany before closing the season with five of the last six matches at home. The Huskies host Elkin (Oct. 6), Starmount (Oct. 9), East Wilkes (Oct. 16), North Wilkes (Oct. 20) and West Wilkes (Oct. 23). The lone road match in that group of games will be at Wilkes Central on Oct. 13.
State playoff action fires up on Oct. 29 with state title games taking place Nov. 14-15.
