The 2014 Frank M. James Memorial Golf Tournament held recently at Jefferson Landing brought in over $56,000 for money to be used by Ashe Memorial Hospital.

The proceeds from the tournament are being used to purchase three bedside monitors for the Emergency Department, a C-Arm for the Imaging Department, a Choledocho Fiberscope for the Endoscopy Suite, and a Sterrad Unit for the Operating Room.

Ralph Davis, a native of Ashe County, began an early teaching career under the leadership of Superintendent Frank James.

Ralph states that being involved in the 20th Annual Frank M. James Memorial Golf Tournament is a way to say “thank you” to the man who so much to the community, state, and nation.

“Mr. James exemplified the perfect example of leader, friend, role model, and servant to others. I hope this event will remind each of us to continue to make our communities a better place for the next generations. That’s the way Mr. James would want it,” said Davis.

Ashe Memorial Hospital Foundation President Jane Lonon echoed just how important this tournament is for the community and raising funds for the hospital.

“The Frank M. James Memorial Golf Tournament is a major fundraiser for the Foundation and through past tournaments we have raised $966,945,” said Lonon. “While those participating will enjoy a first class tournament, we should not forget the memory of the tournament’s namesake, Mr. Frank M. James, who did so much for the hospital and other community organizations in Ashe County.”
