The Gem Valley NC Mine is a family business and one of North Carolina's fun-hobby attractions and is the only public gem-mining/gold-panning facility in the beautiful mountains of Ashe County, NC! Located at the historical mine of Ore Knob, you can find us at 2489 Little Peak Creek Road off of Highway 88 in Jefferson/Laurel Springs. Gem Valley is only minutes away from the Blue Ridge Parkway and one of the oldest rivers in the world, the "New River." If you like gem mining, you'll LOVE Gem Valley! The whole family is invited to spend the day with us (rain or shine)! We offer a fun and educational experience for all individuals, families, and groups of all sizes. You will find valuable gold and gems in our covered gem mining flume that are yours to keep and enjoy. Equipment is furnished and we will be happy to inspect your stones, free of charge. Experienced gem cutters are also on hand to cut and design jewelry from your finds. We will be open for the 2012 Season from Thursday, May 3rd 2012 though Monday, October 8th 2012.
