There is nothing harder for a parent than for something to happen to your child.

Last spring, Lee and Crystal Ham were faced with that nightmare. Their six-year-old son, Trethan, was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor.

Ashe County Youth Soccer League responded with a Soccer vs. Cancer fundraiser that made it possible to present the Ham family with a check for $4,995 to help with expenses while Trethan is undergoing treatments.

Ashe County Youth Soccer would like to thank each person who donated food, money, bought chance tickets, or helped in any way with the fundraiser.

“Ashe County is the only place I know where folks will bring food for a fundraiser, then buy it back,” said Mike Eldreth, Ashe County Youth Soccer President. “Thank you, Ashe County.”
