The JV Lady Huskies held on for a close win while the boys cruised to a blowout win over North Wilkes.

Lady Huskies 31, North Wilkes 22

Ashe took control in the second half and held on in the fourth quarter behind good defense and strong play inside the lane.

Haley Cooper was the high scorer with 10 points. Savannah Brooks added nine, Tyler Eller finished with six and Laura Hodgson scored six as well.

Mckenzie Wood was North’s high scorer with eight points.

The JV Lady Huskies are now 8-4 overall and 5-1 in the Mountain Valley Athletic Conference.

Huskies 52, North Wilkes 20

The game was never in doubt from the start as the Vikings were overmatched.

Connor Bowers scored seven points and tallied a game-high 11 assists and Corbin Winebarger added seven to be the two leading scorers.

Maison McNeill and Parker Shelton scored six points, Kaleb Sexton added five and Stanton Moore scored four points and pulled down 10 rebounds.

Other point scorers included Bradley Lucas and Kendall Richardson with four, Alex Spencer and Gavin Woodie with three, Austin Price with two and Evan Owen with one point.

Ashe is now 10-3 overall, 6-1 in the MVAC and have reeled off nine consecutive wins.

Both teams will be back in action on Friday at West Wilkes.
