It was a tough week of shooting for the varsity women’s team.
Watauga defeated the Lady Huskies 56-25 while West Wilkes kept its solid season going with a 59-32 win over visiting Ashe.
Against Watauga, Ashe scored 14 points in the first quarter, but could only tally 11 points in the remaining three quarters.
Savanna Wood scored 18 points to lead the Lady Pioneers to the win.
Paige Spell led Ashe with six points, Morgan Hudler totaled five points, Chelsea Reavis had four, Hallie Brown had four, Emily Flanagan added two, Abby Lopp added two and Victoria Reed scored a pair.
In the game at West, Lakyn Rutledge and Leah Bishop each scored a game-high 18 points in the win. It was the third straight win for West Wilkes.
Ashe got a great game from Flanagan with a double-double, 14 points and 10 rebounds. Spell scored five points and grabbed five rebounds and Hudler had four points and two rebounds.
Reavis had four points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals. Brown had three points, two rebounds, and dished out two assists.
The Lady Huskies are 7-8 overall and 5-3 in the Mountain Valley Athletic Conference. Ashe will face Wilkes Central at home this Friday.
