One of Downtown West Jefferson’s largest retail spaces is now occupied by Mo’s Boots, a locally-owned company specializing in boots and work clothes.
Mo’s Boots’s first location in Boone opened in 2005, and their second location in West Jefferson opened Sept. 13 2012. The ribbon cutting at their new store took place on the corner of East Main Street and South Jefferson Avenue on Friday, Oct. 19.
Mo’s Boots, owned by Cathy and Roland Hardy, takes its name from the owners’ granddaughters Meghan Miller, Olivia Hardy, and Annaston “Sis” Hall.
“We had a lot of customers in Boone who were from Ashe, and we’re excited to bring the store here because there was a need for it,” said Cathy Hardy.
She also said the store is always adding new things, and that it will have free layaway and gift wrap for the holiday season.
“This store is bigger than the one in Boone, so we can hopefully do a lot with it. We’ll carry more western items and women’s wear,” said Store Manager Michelle Dyer.
“We’re very community centered, and being locals, we like to give back,” said Cathy.
