Mr. Ward Marshall Miller

Mr. Ward Marshall Miller of West Jefferson passed away Monday morning, Nov. 12, 2012, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was 74.

Mr. Miller was born in Ashe County on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 1938, to the late Joe and Cordie Bowlin Miller.

He started making cabinets in 1968 and did all the woodwork in his church, Calvary Freewill Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He enjoyed playing the guitar and singing in church.

He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Robert Miller, Gilbert Miller and Sebert Miller.

Mr. Miller is survived by his wife of 54 years of marriage, Dare Sheets Miller; two brothers, Delmar Miller, of Glendale Springs and Wade Miller, of Millers Creek; three sisters, Faye Dixon, of China Grove, Evazell Crews, of Todd and Shirley Jones, of Glendale Springs; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, at Calvary Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Sonny Thomas and Rev. Russell Sheets officiating. Burial followed in the Calvary Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.
