Varsity softball head coach Bill Key is hosting his annual Diamond Stars Softball Camp at Ashe County High School next week.

Camp is set to start on June 26 and will last through June 28. Campers will report each day at 8:30 a.m. and leave at 11:30.

Coach Key has been the softball head coach for 13 years, and has coached for 23 years overall in the Ashe County school system. Key will be assisted by several current and former players during the three-day camp.

Those eligible for the camp are rising third grade through riding ninth grade girls.

Campers will learn the basic fundamentals of softball while also improving upon their individual skills. Participants should bring their own equipment, including a bat, cleats and a glove. Campers may also want to bring money for concessions.

The cost for this year’s camp will be $50 and players can register on the first day of camp.
