This weekend, alpaca breeders from across the United States and Canada will invite the public to come to their farm or ranch to meet their alpacas and learn more about these inquisitive, unique animals, the luxury fiber they produce, and why the alpaca business is perfect for environmentally conscious individuals.
From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, and Sunday, Sept. 30, Landmark Farm Alpacas in Grassy Creek will welcome guests to join them for a fun and educational experience for all ages while helping raise money for Mountain Animal Safe Haven.
Meet the alpacas in person, touch their buttery soft fleece, enjoy educational exhibits and demonstrations by local hand spinners and knitters, and get an early start on your holiday shopping from a wide selection of products made from alpaca fiber, including scarves, caps, gloves, and socks, yarn made from the farm’s own alpacas, and children’s toys, teddy bears and novelties all made from alpaca.
Raffle tickets for beautiful alpaca products are being sold between now and Saturday at Happy Tails Pet Supplies, 429 E. 2nd St., West Jefferson. Tickets will also be sold all weekend at the farm open house. Raffle winners do not need to be present to win. All proceeds will be donated to the Mountain Animal Safe Haven.
Admission is free. Optional donations to M.A.S.H would be greatly appreciated.
