Lansing officials join new business owners Nic and Michelle Slaton and their friends for a ceremonial ribbon-cutting for Phoenix Mountain Arts. Phoenix Mountain Arts, a mountain craft gallery located in downtown Lansing, had their opening official with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, May 1.
Phoenix Mountain Arts is owned and operated by husband-and-wife team Nic and Michelle Slaton, along with their business partner Sarah Ford.
“We sell everything decorative for your home, including paintings, cabinetry, furniture, and interior decorating items,” said Michelle Slaton.
She also said Phoenix Mountain Arts offers custom projects to customers.
“We’re getting more into custom work so we can make a personal connection with more people,” said Michelle.
For their custom work, Phoenix Mountain Arts uses wood salvaged from abandoned barns and homes, refinishing it to make custom beds, cabinets and furniture.
Jane Lonon, executive director of the Ashe County Arts Council, welcomed Nic and Michelle to the “art world of Ashe County.”
Also there to welcome the new business owners were members of the Ashe County Chamber of Commerce, which included Executive Director Cabot Hamilton and Kathleen George.
Lansing Mayor George Rembert and Alderman Dylan Lightfoot also attended the ceremony. “Phoenix Mountain Arts is the sort of business we need in Lansing,” Lightfoot said. “A unique, out-of-the way offering that rewards visitors who venture past the county seat.”
Phoenix Mountain Arts is located at 9300 N.C. 194 in Lansing.
